For Funders
You want to align your programs and investments with your values, but multiple initiatives, urgent new needs in the field, and staff or leadership turnover make it hard to know what to prioritize today.
Sound familiar?
With our extensive experience and external position, we ask new questions, gather deep insights, and give you actionable data and recommendations. We also lead theory of change and logic model development and design for single programs, or we can build a unified framework for all your initiatives.
We’ve helped large foundations, intermediary funders, and philanthropy-serving organizations (PSOs) assess and refine strategies, build stronger relationships with grantees and members, and publish reports that inspire scaling and replication.
We work with you and your grant partners to develop evaluation plans you will actually use.

“Radiance’s high-quality evaluation work has been essential to the success of Groundswell and our grant partners, consistently bringing critical data and analysis and partnering with key stakeholders in using that data to inform movement building efforts.”

Groundswell Fund
Case Study
Groundswell Fund, its grant making partners, and grantees (primarily women of color-led reproductive justice, health, and rights organizations) work collectively to build grassroots power. When it began, the reproductive justice movement was just beginning to gain momentum, and the women of color-led organizations at the forefront of innovating strategies and organizing grassroots communities were overlooked and underfunded.
During our 11-year evaluation partnership on Groundswell’s Catalyst Fund for Reproductive Justice and additional work with its Rapid Response Fund, we worked in close collaboration with staff and leadership to:
- Develop a theory of change that guided Catalyst’s nationwide expansion and scaling.
- Co-create a grantee survey with Groundswell staff and board, community partners, and funders and manage the largest database of reproductive justice, health, and rights work led by women of color and gender-expansive people in the U.S.
- Conduct a grantee focus group and other engagement activities to invite reflection on the data and recommendations for Groundswell to increase its effectiveness.
- Develop and co-design annual reports of findings and grantee impact stories that Groundswell used for funder advocacy, development, and communications.
During our partnership, the Catalyst Fund contributed to an increase in philanthropic investment in community-led reproductive justice work from $2.4 million in 2008 to $21 million in 2019.
